Out With the Old
This past weekend we started the arduous process of packing and moving. We really are not that far along at all, but our move is not til September and we have not yet begun looking at potential apartments. What we have done is begun to purge. It feels really good to get the clutter of your life. The more physical things I have the more weight is on my shoulders. Saturday I spent the afternoon going through stacks of magazines, stacks that are three to four years deep. I trimmed out any articles, photos, art that I wanted to hold onto. See the difference below.

DOOR CO WI Summer Vacation (part 1)
Last week we were in Door County Wisconsin. Our friend Sarah's parents have a beautiful house on the lake. We were so fortunate to be able to join her and Tim for a real good time. When I was younger we used to go on summer "up north" trips. I would be way into exploring the woods and swimming in a lake, now in adulthood I was way into the quaintness of the scandinavian details found in Door Co. Awesome summer vacay #1. Coming up: Northern Mi, San Francisco!

ps. Thank you to Mel-L for doing a great job of maintaining her flickr for the both of us!
More Geoff Mcfetridge
A while back we purchased a book called Bohemian Modern: Living in Silverlake by Barbara Bestor. It showcases a collection of homes in the Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles. Geoff Mcfetridge illustrated the cover and insides of this beautiful book. If you are at all interested in modern homes and architecture, or are a lover of LA go get this book.
Here are some photographic samples:

It also features Mcfetridge's studio and some of his work:

Today I am 29 years old. The future is totally awesome while the past was pretty alright.
Graphic Artist
Last Tuesday we saw Geoff Mcfetridge speak at the MCA. It was fantastic. He did a really great job of explaining his idea development, production process, but also showed how so many projects relate to each other under these umbrella-like philosophies. Dude is super deep, and his lecture made me question my own level of dilligence in art making. I figured out that being more critical of my designs and taking more time to think about the designs could be helpful.
